It's time to send those winter dust bunnies away because spring is almost here to stay! As the residents of our Lake Oswego, OR apartments are preparing for the warmer days ahead, we've compiled these spring-cleaning tips and tricks to make it a little easier.
Spring-Cleaning Tips & Tricks
Start with Your Closet
This is the perfect time to go through your closet and drawers to remove all the clothes you don't wear. if you haven't worn some of your winter gear in the past three months, put it in a pile to be donated. If some of the summer stuff you're pulling out isn't the right size, send it on its way to be donated, too.
Get rid of the clothes that haven't been worn, don't fit, or have seen better days. It's a great way to start the de-cluttering process while giving someone else the opportunity to enjoy the fabrics you've loved so much.
Clean Your Microwave
Microwaves easily fall under the radar where home cleaning is concerned. It doesn't take much for weird goo to build up into fortresses of crust and baked-on grime.
A simple way to make your microwave clean again? Cut a lemon or two in half. Squirt the juice into a coffee cup that's half-filled with water, then drop the rinds in as well. Microwave your lemony concoction for three minutes, then let it stand for five minutes without opening the door. The citric acid will break up the grease and soften the gross stuff inside, making it easy for you to wipe the interior clean.
Toss Old Condiments
You might be surprised at the amount of food accessories you've accumulated over the past few months. Spices, herbs, ketchup, salad dressings, and other food flavorings can quickly amass within your fridge and cupboards. Pull everything out and lay it on the line (or the counter, as the case may be). Condiments that have passed their expected life need to go in the trash. Duplicate items need to be paired together so you use the oldest one first. Stuff you're not sure why you bought it in the first place definitely gets dumpster duty.
